About us

BC Backpackers is growing. We want to be a one-stop shop for travellers who want to spend time, not bags of money, in the beautiful province of British Columbia, Canada.

British Columbia is much more than the city of Vancouver. Islands, beaches, mountains, winter wonderlands and more await, when you take the time to explore.

British Columbia has an excellent system of hostels, innumerable campgrounds (including the BC Parks system, which will take you as close to nature as you can imagine), and many inexpensive hotels and motels.

As we grow, we’ll be adding more and more features: hotel/motel, camping, and hostel directories; restaurant recommendations; reader reviews; forums where travellers can connect with other travellers or like-minded locals; and much more. Do you have a suggestion? Visit our contact us page.

Who are we?

BC Backpackers is owned by me, Shella Gardezi, creator of BCBusinessBeat.com. As a transplant from Ontario, I am passionate about travel and have spent a great deal of time exploring the province, staying in hostels, and checking out attractions.

As a budget traveller, I know it’s possible to keep costs down and still enjoy great accommodations, breath-taking scenery and fun experiences. I also know it can be frustrating for travellers to have to visit many sites to find the things they can afford.

Over the next weeks, and months, we’ll be compiling as many of those things in one place, for you to enjoy. Check back often as we grow our site! Happy trails!
